Week Six

First of all, let me start by saying there is a reason, and a GOOD one, for me not posting everyday like most of you are used to. On November 5th, or 6th, this blog will resume normalcy, because I will be moving in to a dwelling with my hetero-sexual lifemate Steve G (for those of you who now suspect me as being a ferry, please note my GIRLfriend Sara will be moving in with me shortly thereafter, so SUCK IT). That being said, I have hardly any access to a computer, so that's why these postings have been few and far between. Starting Nov. 6th, we will back to normal.

OK, Week 5 sucked my a**, because even though the Bucs only lost by 2 points, they lost their ass on that game, and I am quite surprised they didn't lose by more. Good news is that Cadillac Williams has been upgraded to probable for the Fins game on Sunday. So, to my point: Dolphins.

The all-time series is led by Miami: 4-3. While we seem to meet each other every year in the preseason, and Miami is the closest pro football team to the Bucs, only seven regular season games have been played between these two in 30 years! Last time we met the Dolphins was in Miami in 2000, and we etched one out 16-13. My Fins for the week to watch are: Besides Zach and Jason, I would like to keep my eyes on Randy McMichael. Not only is he a good blocker, liked he showed last week in Buffalo, but he's the Fins' second leading receiver. He is more of a deep threat than a short catcher. He's going to have Barber and Allen really busy. Also, rookie linebacker Channing Crowder is doing pretty well. I remember watching this kid in Florida and comparing his backer styles to the likes of LT and Hardy Nickerson. He's got Zach and Junior on either side of him, so, linebackers for the Fins this year are pretty dangerous. Oh yeah, and for the record, Junior likes the co..... OK, anyway. Safety Tebucky Jones is another threat in the defensive backfield. I am very proud of Alex Smith this year. Michael Clayton and Ike Hilliard are doing well. I cant wait to watch these matchups this weekend. A fast safety, a fast receiver corps... should be interesting. I bet we run the ball a lot this week! Wes Welker is a wide out and a kick returner. Another fast threatening player. He averages over 10 yards per run back on kick returns, and has taken all the way on more than one occasion. This is where the Bucs special teams will need to mind their p's and q's, because one missed tackle here, and it may mean 6 points.

I am interested to see this game. I will be more realistic on my prediction this week (by the way, Last week I predicted the Jets to lose by three, not the Bucs by two... Weird huh?). OK, here goes:
Bucs: 21
Fins: 17
Cadillac (if he plays): 105

OUCH

Rough week for the Bucs. Rough week for a lot of teams and players. My prediction was for the Bucs to hand the Lions' their arsses, but instead, the Lions handed the Bucs theirs. There's always that "a W is a W" phrase, one phrase I never agreed with whatsoever. Sure, the Bucs are now 4-0, a record shared only by three other teams. But seriously, if we play like we did last Sunday, we wont stretch that winning streak any further.

I also predicted that Cadillac Williams would rush for over 150 yards. Pretty cocky you might think, but right online to do such a thing before the game started. He was benched in the game because of a hamstring injury. That still wouldn't have mattered. Injury or not, the Lions defense shut him down. Very well, I might add. I really hope he is OK for next week's game in new York against the Jets.

Other teams embarrassed or debacled this past Sunday include the Buffalo Bills who went to 1-3, even though they played a decent game. New England was handed their own arss by San Diego, and what a GREAT game that was to watch! I love the fact that the "superhuman" Pats were proven to be just that... HUMAN. The New York Giants CLOBBERED the Rams on Sunday, and Minnesota was handed, yet, another loss. (I sit here and laugh in sweet silence). Arizona whipped up on the 49ers in front of a huge Mexican crowd and brought their way out of a winless season thusfar. But, we all know the most shocking event of the week: The fact that Green Bay STILL has yet to win a football game.

The Packers, in my opinion, are still a great team. I absolutely LOVE the amount of respect that opposing teams and their players show Brett Favre. A lot of times right after a sack! It just represents what sportsmanship should be like everywhere, all of the time. Terrence Murphy got smacked so hard he left the game on a stretcher. I pray to God that he's OK, because that was an ugly hit. I am really surprised the Packers haven't won a game yet. If you would have told me that in the preseason, I would have laughed at you, and probably lost a lot of money! Oh well, I think they will do fine in week five. Here are my predictions:

Green Bay 24, New Orleans 20
Baltimore 17, Detroit 31
Chicago winning at Cleveland 21-10
Miami losing to Buffalo at home 28-27
New England beating Atlanta at home 35-28
Seattle beating St. Louis (in StL) 14-10
Tampa Bay @ NY Jets.... see next post!
Houston losing another one, this time to Tennessee 31-21
Indianapolis in San Francisco, Indy 38, SF 20
Carolina losing to Arizona at home 21-17
Philadelphia losing to Dallas 30-14
Tough call of the week: Washington at Denver: Wash: 20, Den: 27
Cincinnati at Jacksonville. Bengals win 24-14
Game of the Week (in my opinion), MNF: Pittsburgh in San Diego. SD wins 34-17

Good week coming up! Hey, at least the Vikings wont botch a game this week. :)

WAY BEHIND

Sorry folks... I have been so damn busy this week, I haven't had time to do an update. This will be very SHORT and sweet. This week the Bucs host the Detroit Lions.

Surprising to most I have talked to this past week, The Lions actually lead the all time series 23-20. Most forget they were in the same division since 1976 until a few years ago. The Lions I want to watch this week are the following: DT Shaun Rogers, Guard Damien Woody, CB Andre Goodman, WR Roy Williams and LB Earl Holmes. These are the five that impressed the Bucs staff enough to watch, I watched them all last week... Should be interesting.

Last week, my boy Cadillac Williams broke 2 NFL records: Only player in NFL history to rush for more than 100 yards in his first three games played as a rookie. Also broke the all time rushing yards in first three games played as rookie. I was very impressed with the Buccaneer defense last week against the Packers, forcing them to an 0-3 start and finally winning a game at Lambeau. We might have a cocky edge going into this week, but I aint skerred!

Last time we met the Lions we etched out a 23-20 win. I have always believed the underdog of size has a better chance of winning (i.e. Cincinnati breaking KC's 11 or 12 game winning streak a few years ago). So that being said, I still pick my Bucs to win, but this time by a larger margin. They are playing at home, which will give them the edge they need to stay on top of the game.

I pick Bucs winning 38-10.

Cadillac Williams: 158 yards.

We shall see. Oh yes, we shall see.
